Gerard Fowke, gentleman of the bed chamber to King Charles I of England, emigrated from his native Staffordshire, England to Virginia in 1651 on the ship "Assurance." He married Anne Thoroughgood, of Port Tobacco, Maryland, and died in Virginia in 1669, leaving issue.
