John Batte emigrated from his native England to Virginia before November 7, 1643, when he patented land in James City County. Before coming to Virginia, Batte served as Justice of the Peace in West Riding, Yorkshire, England, and was a captain of foot in the Royalist regiment of Agbrigg and Morlet at the battle of Adwalton. He married Katherine Mallory and died before April 29, 1665, leaving issue.
