     John Berkeley Order Form  
 

John Berkeley was a descendant of Thomas Berkeley, eighth lord of Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire, England whom in 1361 bought Beverstone Castle and gave it to a younger son. From Beverstone Castle, John emigrated in 1618 to Virginia as superintendent of the newly founded iron works at Falling Creek in Henrico County. On March 22, 1622 he was killed by Indians during the Indian massacre. Though he lived in Virginia but a short time in Virginia, he left several sons and daughters he had brought with him from England.

The John Berkeley file includes information on 1,423 individuals with 340 different surnames. It covers sixteen generations, with the earliest birth occurring in ca 1571.
