Are you a descendant of one of Virginia's immigrants? Do you enjoy researching your family, but sometimes wish the information would fall into your lap? Or maybe you are tired of paying big prices for many different books, cds, and other sources which contain only a page or two, sometimes no more than a line or two, about the family you are researching. Then this product is for you!

"Virginia's Descendants" compiles information on Virginia immigrants from many different sources into one file, using the Family Tree Maker 2006 genealogy program. We do not compile mere lists of names and dates, but include all the interesting material we locate on the immigrant and his descendants. The information we gather includes court cases; residences; employment; education; deeds; descriptions of homes; physical traits; personalities; transcriptions of wills; personal correspondence; and even contemporary reports of gossip circulating about individuals during their lifetimes. And we offer this colorful genealogy file to the descendants of Virginia immigrants for a fraction of what it would cost them to obtain the material on their own.

John Berkeley was a descendant of Thomas Berkeley, eighth lord of Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire, England whom in 1361 bought Beverstone Castle and gave it to a younger son. From Beverstone Castle, John emigrated in 1618 to Virginia as superintendent of the newly founded iron works at Falling Creek in Henrico County. On March 22, 1622 he was killed by Indians during the Indian massacre. Though he lived in Virginia but a short time in Virginia, he left several sons and daughters he had brought with him from England.

Of the 340 surnames included, other than Berkeley those appearing ten or more times: Bassett, Battaile, Beverley, Brooke, Carter, Claiborne, Cobbs, Deans, Fontaine, Fry, Hull, Jackson, Johnson, Loughborough, Mason, Milner, Minor, Nelson, Newton, Nicholson, Prince, Randolph, Robinson, Rootes, Smith, Taylor, Turner, Upshur, White, and Whitner.
