Miles Cary, only son of John and Alice Cary of Bristol, England, emigrated to Virginia between 1640 and 1646, settling at "Magpy Swamp," Warwick County, Virginia. He was prominent in politics and colonel of the Warwick County militia. Miles married Anne Taylor, and they raised a family of four sons and three daughters, named on his tomb, before he died in 1667. He was buried at "Windmill Point," in Warwick County.
