Are you a descendant of one of Virginia's immigrants? Do you enjoy researching your family, but sometimes wish the information would fall into your lap? Or maybe you are tired of paying big prices for many different books, cds, and other sources which contain only a page or two, sometimes no more than a line or two, about the family you are researching. Then this product is for you!

"Virginia's Descendants" compiles information on Virginia immigrants from many different sources into one file, using the Family Tree Maker 2006 genealogy program. We do not compile mere lists of names and dates, but include all the interesting material we locate on the immigrant and his descendants. The information we gather includes court cases; residences; employment; education; deeds; descriptions of homes; physical traits; personalities; transcriptions of wills; personal correspondence; and even contemporary reports of gossip circulating about individuals during their lifetimes. And we offer this colorful genealogy file to the descendants of Virginia immigrants for a fraction of what it would cost them to obtain the material on their own.

William Bernard emigrated from his native England to Virginia in 1622 on the ship, Furtherance. He settled at "Basse's Choice," and traveled to England and returned to Virginia at least three times before 1642, when he patented 1200 acres at the head of Lawnes Creek in Isle of Wight County, due him for his own adventure 'four times,' and transportation of 20 persons." Probably due to the influence of his brother, Sir Robert Bernard of Brampton Hall, he became a member of the Virginia Council and served until his death in 1665. He died in Nansemond County, Virginia, leaving his wife, Lucy and issue.

Of the 1684 surnames included, other than Bernard those appearing ten or more times: Allen, Ambler, Anderson, Armistead, Arthur, Aylett, Bagby, Bailey, Baker, Barksdale, Barrett, Baylor, Berkeley, Bevis, Blackburn, Block, Booker, Booth, Bouldin, Bowles, Brooke, Brown, Bruce, Bryan, Buckner, Burnley, Buxton, Cabell, Caldwell, Cameron, Campbell, Carrington, Carter, Cary, Chandler, Chapman, Christian, Claggett, Clark, Clayton, Cobbs, Cocke, Coles, Cooke, Cooper, Cowherd, Dabney, Dade, Daingerfield, Daniel, Davis, Deans, Dixon, Dox, Early, Edmunds, Eliason, Evans, Fairfax, Farrar, Fitzhugh, Fitzpatrick, Fleet, Fleming, Fox, Franklin, Fry, Garnett, Gillespie, Gilliam, Goodson, Goodwin, Graham, Gravatt, Gray, Green, Greenhow, Greenough, Gwynne, Hall, Harris, Harrison, Hawes, Henley, Henry, Hill, Holderness, Holladay, Hubard, Hull, Irwin, Jackson, Johnson, Johnston, Jones, Joseph, Kean, Keller, Lambeth, Lawson, Lee, Lewis, Lipscomb, Litchford, Lloyd, Lowry, Lyons, MacRae, Madison, Mallory, Marshall, Mason, Matthews, McHenry, McLaurine, Micou, Miller, Milner, Minor, Moncure, Moore, Morris, Morton, Neblett, Nelson, Newman, Newton, Nicholas, Norfleet, Norton, Ord, Owens, Page, Payne, Peachy, Pecquet, Pendleton, Peyton, Phillips, Platt, Preston, Price, Prince, Ragland, Randolph, Reade, Rives, Robertson, Robinson, Rootes, Rotch, Rucker, Ruffin, Ryland, Saunders, Scott, Selden, Semple, Shackelford, Slaughter, Smith, Spencer, Syme, Tabb, Taliaferro, Taylor, Temple, Thomas, Thompson, Thornton, Throckmorton, Todd, Tompkins, Traynham, Trigg, Truscott, Turner, Upshur, Walker, Ward, Waters, Wellford, White, Whiting, Wiley, Wilkins, Willcox, Williams, Williamson, Willis, Wilson, Winston, Wood, Wooding, Wright, Wyatt, and Yeatman.
