1. Please tell me the difference between the Virginia's Descendants Genealogy CD and the Gedcom.
Actually both are on CD. However, the difference is that the first created was a backup file of the Virginia's Descendants file created with Family Tree Maker 2006 Program for Win98/ME/EP.
Therefore, it could only be restored to the same or a later version of a Family Tree Maker Program. The gedcom file, on the other hand, can be imported by any genealogy programs that allow importation of gedcom files, and is provided for those who either do not use Family Tree Maker, or use an earlier version than 2006.
Also available is a PDF file on CD, which can be accessed on most computers, today, and most of the immigrant files can be sent through email as PDF File E-Books, for faster delivery.
2. Is there any way to tell who is in a particular immigrant file?
No. I will be happy to check a particular Virginia immigrant file which I offer for individuals you are researching. However, I will need date of birth, spouse or children, something to connect to the correct individual, as many names repeat in most families.
